Death threats, bribery offers to Panama corruption reporter

PANAMA Radio journalist, Joan Solés, told judges in a Naples, Italy, court, of verbal attacks and ongoing abuse from government officials, and President Ricardo Martinelli himself, over her reporting of Italian investigations of corruption in Panama .

On trial for political corruption in Italy, are Valter Lavítola and former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, for bribing former senator Sergio Gregorio. On Wednesday June 4 the judges heard of the “hysterical reactions and pressures” asserted by the government of Panama, according to Solés.

Speaking for over an hour, Solés referred the content of a tense conversation with Lavítola on June 19, 2013 , while he was under house arrest , and she reported receiving death threats and offers of money to change her news reports.
Solés will becalled again as a witness at the political corruption trial on June 25 , when it will face questions from the lawyers of Berlusconi and Lavítola.
On Thursday July 5,, the Italian Ambassador to Panama , Giancarlo Curcio , and former director of Finmeccanica commercial , Paolo Pozzessere, will be called to testify in the trial that accuses Lavítola instigated by Martinelli for having extorted the Italian consortium Impregilo , to build a pediatric hospital in the province of Veraguas, in exchange for future award .
Their testimony will be crucial to unravel dark game of interests surrounding the promises reports La Prensa.
