Mayor-elect heading south for strategy advice
PANAMA’S Mayor-elect, José Isabel Blandón will set off mid-June on a three cities tour in Latin America,starting with Medellín, Colombia, to meet with municipal leaders.
Blandón has promised changes in how the city is run, and will be dicussing with Medellín Mayor Aníbal Gaviria Correa strategies for leading the municipality.
Last year, Medellín won an award as one of the most innovative cities in the world, along with Tel Aviv and New York.
Blandón will also travel to Bogota and Guayaquil, Ecuador.
"They are cities that we hope to have close contact with," he said.
The Mayor-elect is currently working on the transition with Mayor Roxana Méndez. He takes over July 1.
