Attorney General wont bow to “political pressure”

PANAMA’S Attorney General Ana Belfon, said Thursday, March 13, that she will not tolerate "any political pressure" related to the complaint filed by Electoral Tribunal Judge Erasmo Pinilla against the ruling CD.

The complaint is over the alleged misuse of Tribunal information by the campaign of CD candidate José Domingo Arias.

According to Belfon, a Martinelli appointee, the complaint is being processed to determine if it should be investigated. She said that it has yet to be determined if any criminal action has taken place, and called for "serenity" in the general election reports La Prensa.
The complaint states that the CD improperly used the personal information contained in the tribunal database, which included names, political affiliation and identity numbers of voters.
