PRD election workers aught up in police swoop.
A GROUP OF PRD supporters and their legal advisors were detained by the police in San Francisco on Wednesday April 12 while distributing leaflets in support of presidential candidate Juan Carlos Navarro in San Francisco Carlos Navarro. They have since been released.
PRD spokespersons said that the party's legal team arrived at the station to defend the detainees, but then were themselves detained before also being let go.
Police spokeswoman Mara Rivera said that the arrests were not motivated by politics.
"A raid by a public prosecutor in the sector had been ordered, and the people were arrested in the raid," she said. "This is not detention but a verification, and it does not matter to which party they belong," reports La Prensa.
