Rivera to get $75,000 Commonwealth Award
MARIANO RIVERA, the Panamanian pitcher and former New York Yankees all time saver will be one of three recipients of the prestigious 2014 Commonwealth Awards for Lasting Contributions to Modern Culture.
The awards recognize individuals who have enriched modern culture through their professional and personal endeavors.
The other two recipients who will be honored, April 5 are Bob Costas, Emmy Award-winning journalist and eight-time National Sportscaster of the Year and Anjelica Huston, Academy Award-winning actress and director, for Dramatic Arts;
The honorees will be recognized at the Commonwealth Awards ceremony hosted by the
PNC Financial Services Group on at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington Delaware.
The Commonwealth Awards of Distinguished Service were first presented in 1979 by the
Commonwealth Trust created under the will of business executive and philanthropist. Ralph Hayes,

In the 35-year history of the Commonwealth Awards, $6 million has been awarded to 188 honorees. The 2014 recipients will each get an award of $75,000.
