Doctor sues for damages after fall in Metro Bus

A CLAIM for damages against the Mi Bus company after a fall inside a Metro Bus caused a fractured vertebra, has been admitted by Panama’s Fifteenth Civil Court.

The applicant, Dra Sandra Platero, received  the injury while traveling from Pedregal – on the Corridor Sur , route on July 12 , 2012.

Doctor Platero boarded the bus in the morning to go to her clinic in Pedregal, but in waterwas falling from an air conditioner duct onto her seat.
She tried to change her seat, but at that time the driver braked sharply and the passenger fell because the floor was also wet.
The request was accepted Tuesday, February 25 and is expected to begin with the testimony of two witnesses.
Platero said she was incapacitated for nine months after the accident and could not walk. She said she had financial losses because her clinic closed.
She complains that Mi Bus has not been responsible for her medical expenses, and calls for restitution of $97,000 , as the insurance company has not paid.
On Mondaym February 24, Mi Bus said that, as a responsible company, it ensures that in any event the people that are affected,get medical attention.
