12 companies caught flouting new minimum wage law
TWELVE COMPANIES have been cited he for violating the minimum wage law which came into force in January.
Ministry of Labor official Reynaldo Medina said that some 165 companies were checked in an operation on February 6.
He said the violators have been given until February 15 to make the appropriate adjustments.
He warned that any repeat offenders would face "strong" sanctions.
TheMinstry said that the new minimum wage was established by a technical study and without political influences.
The company Varela Hermanos was mentioned in the list of companies that were among the violators. Medina pointed out that this company has previously tried to attack the Ministry over mínimum wage issues.
