Metro Bus operators get couple of weeks to shape up
THE MI BUS company, operators of Panama’s Metro Buses has $300,000 in outstanding fines for poor performance. but has been given a “couple of weeks” to shape up before the fines are increased.
Minister of the Presidency, Roberto Henriquez, said on Tuesday, January 28, that the government has decided to give an extension of before the fine for breach of contract is increased.
Said Henriquez: "Let's wait a couple of weeks to see if an improvement is noted, with the implementation of the management system and digital monitoring and then re-evaluate the situation," He said the new system will increase the frequency and should really said make a big difference .
However, he said the chances of further increase in the sanction are in place.
In December the Transit Authority announced that it would apply a further increase of $600,000 a month in fines.
