Blandon names environmentalist as running mate in mayoralty race
JOSÉ ISABEL Blandón Panameñista has promised to transform Panama City if he is elected and to help him he has chosen as running mate, Raise Banfield, a committed environmentalist.
On Tuesday, January 21 Blandon logged in at the Electoral Tribunal as a mayoralty candidate accompanied by Banfield, vying to become Vice Mayor. Blandón said that he wants to transform the capital city, and that he plans to do so with his running mate: "Banfield comes to enrich our proposals and to join this movement," said Blandón.
Banfield said that, if elected, she will put into practice everything she has been pointing out in recent years.
"Today is a step toward taking action to find the solutions," she said. "I am not being separated from my commitment to the environment, rather I am reinforcing it." But she emphasized to the media that she remains an independent.
"I am accepting the Panameñista nomination, I am accepting the proposals of Blandón as a citizen, not as someone affiliated to a political party," she said.
