New Colombian military task force bordering Panama

COLOMBIA'S GOVERNMENT has activated a Joint Task force named “Titan” to operate mainly in the department of Chocó, bordering Panama to fight the guerrillas of FARC as well as criminals and drug gangs.

New unit will have 2,500 whose aim is to fight fronts 34 and 57 of the FARC and criminal gangs that commit crimes in 22 municipalities of the department of Chocó, and some of its neighboring municipalities according to a military statement reports Reuters

General Rubén Darío Mora lzate will be the Force Commander of "Titan" that will be equipped with modern equipment such as hovercraft and river patrol boats.
The Chocó, suffers the scourges of guerrillas, criminal gangs and drug trafficking, and is also used by illegal groups that traffic in people, as a bridge to transport illegal immigrants seeking to reach Central America and, from there, to the United States.
