Canal expansion locks on schedule says contract group

THE PRINCIPLE objective of Grupo Unidos por el Canal (GUPC) is to finish the work of expansion of the waterway in the appropriate time so the international market and Panama can use the new set of locks said a press release on Monday December 15.

So far, GUPC has complied with the schedule presented to the ACP getting the work already has more than 64 % complete.

It said that  GUPC has been surprised at statements in the media about alleged pressure in the negotiation process carried out on both sides, and wishes to clarify that it has not exercised any pressure and that all claims have been completed using the facilities in the contract.
