PRD must re-orient campaign former president

THE FALTERING PRD presidential campaign means that the party’s candidate Juan Carlos Navarro is heading for defeat according to former President Ernesto Pérez Balladares.

Perez Balladares said Tuesday, November 26, that the PRD has to sit down and evaluate its situation heading into the 2014 general election.

The PRD must make a decisions to "reorient the campaign" and find "other alternatives. "As far as I can see, we are not going to win," he said leader.

He added that hopefully there will be an "alliance of the opposition" to push the party to victory reported La Prensa.
The former president said that the party has failed to become unified behind its candidate, Juan Carlos Navarro.
Perez Balladares said that he has offered advice to Navarro, but it has not been followed so far.
"I've said what he should do on television, what else can I do? I am not a member of any of the posts of the party leadership," he said.
The former president denied that he has met with Panameñista presidential candidate Juan Carlos Varela. He also said that, if there is not an opposition alliance, CD candidate José Domingo Arias will emerge victorious.
According to the most recent poll commissioned by La Prensa, Arias leads voter preferences with 35.6 percent, followed by Navarro (26.9 percent) and Varela (26.4 percent).
Navarro (23.9 percent) and Varela (22.4 percent) lead the preferences of voters who were asked which candidate should lead an opposition alliance.
