32 crew members of arms smuggling ship released
THIRTY-TWO crew members of the North Korean ship who have been detained in Panama since July are to be released.
The Panamanian prosecutor against organized crime Nathaniel Murgas gave the order for the release of 32 of the 35 man crew of the Chong Chong Gang which was carrying undeclared arms from Cuba,
The sailors were to be delivered to a North Korean mission, which arrived in Panama last week.
Murgas told The Associated Press that the two other sailors, the captain, and second in command of the vessel and a North Korean official embedded with the crew will continue on trial for the crime of arms trafficking.
The released men “were unaware of the cargo " said Murgas.
There is no immediate word if they will be going on the Chong Chong Gang, which was fine $1million fo violating canal safety measures.
