Cops will ride on every Metro train

TWO specially trained police offers will ride on every subway train, and another two or three at every station and more outside when Panama’s new subway system starts in the New Year.

The first 26 National Police trained to provide security on the Panama Metro system were presented to the media on Thursday afternoon, October 24. The total transit security force will number 300.

The police officers , were trained by Mass Transit Systems safety experts from the United States.
Roberto Roy , executive secretary of the Panama Metro , detailed the disposition of the security detachment, but said that the Police will determine whether these agents will carry weapons or not within the Metro . "That is an issue that has to be decided by the police ," he said .
The total security body of Panama Metro will consist of Police , the National System of Civil Protection (SINAPROC) and the Fire Department .
