Herreras sentence quashed

THE THREE YEAR jail sentence passed on former presidential candidate Balbina Herrera, has been wiped out says a notice published in the Official Gazette, Friday October 18.

Herrera was sentenced to three years in prison for disclosing emails between the president , Ricardo Martinelli , and Valter Lavítola .

Martinelli said in the week that when the sentence was announced he would pardon Herrera , which he reaffirmed when the court ruled .
The President said he would pardon or cancel it because she was a " useful idiot " and had not recovered from the loss of 2009 .
Herrera fired back : " I prefer a thousand times be a useful idiot for telling the truth , than to be a person who is involved in possible acts of corruption and involvement in an act of international and national shame " reports La Prensa
Executive Decree No. 717 of October 17, 2013 , which cancelled the senrence Herrera was signed by the Interior Minister , Jorge Ricardo Fabrega, and Martinelli.
