Church cant control government abuses medical leader

THE CHURCH does not have the ability to control the abuses of government , says the head of Panama’s The National Negotiating Medical Commission ( Comenenal ).

Fernando Castaneda , was reacting on Sunday, October 13, to the request made by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to the Catholic Church to be a mediator in a dialogue seeking to end the strike of health professionals

He doubted that the Church mediate talks with MoH and Social Security Fund (CSS ) authorities.
He said that in previous dialogues with the Church as a mediator, there were no positive results . Castaneda recalled that the Catholic Church had previously admitted he had "no capacity " to pressure the government to fulfill the agreements reached at the negotiating table with health professionals .
"Right now we have not accepted any mediation , but a mediator has to have the ability to make the government does what it has promised and not renage .
“Negotiations would hardly go well [ with the Church as mediator ] for them to tell us the same thing. The Church does not have the ability to control the abuses of government , "said Castenada/
Archbishop, José Domingo Ulloa , reiterated that if the warring parties were . willing the Church would be able to provide a mediation service.
He made an urgent call to the parties , emphasizing that it is through dialogue that things can be worked out. " “We pray that both parties are able to dialogue to find a solution”
