Martinelli withdraws $30 million lawsuit against Varela
PRESIDENT, Ricardo Martinelli, announced Friday October 10 that he was withdrawing a $30 million lawsuit against Vice President Juan Carlos Varela.
Sources in the Palace of Justice told La Prensa that the withdrawal was presented September 10 and is pending resolution by Carlos Trujillo, Judge of the First Court.
Jaime Montero, Martinelli's lawyer, declined to discuss the issue.
Meanwhile, says La Prensa, lawyers for Varela said they expect thedemand to be archived because it was filed on impulse.
Martinelli sued Varela May 10, 2012, after the Vice President said that the president had allegedly taken bribes from convicted Italian go-between Valter Lavitola who, this weekend. returned to jail after being under house arrest.
