Teachers supporting striking medical workers
DISCONTENT appears to be on the rise in Panama with the possibility that teachers’ unions could join the national strike of medical personnel.
For now support is limited to joining doctors and nurses at demonstrations and least nine teachers unions announced Tuesday that they will support the d health professionals in their fight against the law allowing the hiring of foreign doctors.
Unión leader Luis López said that they will join the marches and other actions but will not disrupt classes. However he said that there is a possibility the unions would join the national strike called by the medical unions.
"For now we are only providing support to the street demonstrations," said the teacher.
