Health workers continue demand for talks with Martinelli

THE WORK stoppage of health care staff enters its 13th day on Tuesday, October 8 with representatives continuing to demand the repealed of Law 69 concerning the hiring of foreign medical personnel .

Speaking of the call for dialogue made Deputy Minister of Health , Serafin Sanchez , for Monday October 7 which was postponed until Tuesday because of non-attendance of the members of the National Negotiating Medical Commission ( Comenenal  , Fernando Castaneda , a member of that group , told Prensa.com: "we will not waste time on distractions " .

He said that before the law was passed , unions and industry associations were insistent on the the need for more dialogue , more consultation , more regulation , but the authorities rejected the call and "now they are in a hurry to negotiate? " .
Castaneda reiterated that they require the repeal of Law 69, "which has been imposed and was not consulted" and to dialogue directly with the president , Ricardo Martinelli , with the aim of drafting a "proper law " .
He said there has not been any kind of rapprochement with a representative of the Executive Body , therefore the strike continues
