PRD still strongest party but bleeding
PANAMA’S PRD Party continues to lead in terms of registered members, but there has been a steady hemorrhaging since May, with reports that some government employees have been pressured to move to the ruling CD.
The PRD had 521,875 followers, as of August 1.It lost approximately 34,089 members between May and August.
The ruling CD had 505,754 adherents and added 33,679 people in the same period.
The Panameñista party is third with 246,916 members, losing 11,690 members. Molirena has crept up to 116,199..
The Partido Popular Party PP added 811 people.
The Broad Front for Democracy had 63,861 adherents in August, but exceeded 64,000 members in September which allowed it to register as an official party reports La Prensa.
