Ex-electoral judge warns of fraud in 2014
FORMER Electoral Tribunal (TE) judge Gerardo Solis has added his voice that of other observers concerned about possible electoral fraud in the May 2014 elections.
Solis, who is an independent presidential candidate, told Prensa.com: "I worry that we are already seeing electoral fraud," said Solis.
He said that this fear is based on the fact that the government of Ricardo Martinelli is using its resources "to promote lies."
In this regard, he added that millions of dollars have been used for weeks to inflate the achievments of the Democratic Change (CD) presidential candidate José Domingo Arias.
He also said that state resources are used today to buy “consciences.”
Thus, "there is no guarantee of fairness in the electoral process that must be fair and transparent," he said.
He called for citizens to be observant of everything that happens and document any anomalies they see, until the May 3, 2014.
Citizen’s groups and political observers have also raised concerns about the amount of money the government spent on advertising campaigns promoting its achievements, including one copied from another country that produced protests from the Afro and disabled communities.
