Concern over possible 2014 electoral fraud
LA PRENSA founder Roberto Eisenmann Jr. said Sunday, September 15, that he is concerned about the possibility of fraud in the 2014 elections.
Eisenmann said that President Ricardo Martinelli and his party have not acted ethically during their time in office, and this is why they have not signed the electoral ethics pact.
"Anything is possible with this president," the businessman said. "He obviously doesn't want to relinquish power."
He said he will suspect fraud if CD candidate Jose Domingo Arias ascends in the polls. Eisenmann said that Martinelli never wanted Arias to be the candidate, "and now he is a prisoner since the nominee was never intended to carry through until the end."
Eisenmann acknowledged that he made a mistake by voting for Martinelli, but explained that there was a lack of a viable option.
"Sixty percent of the population voted for him," he said. "We were excited, but he has been a total disappointment."
