ELECTION 2014: Poll shows Navarro still leads in trudge to election
IF PANAMA’S presidential election was held today Juan Carlos Navarro of the opposition PRD would secure his place in the presidential palace.
Nine months before the2014 elections, 28.7% of those surveyed by the firm Quantix Panama, exclusively for La Prensa, said they will vote for Navarro, 24.2% said yes to José Domingo Arias, candidate of the ruling Democratic Change (CD), and 18.7%, for Vice President Juan Carlos Varela, Panameñista.
The results are almost identical to those reflected in the survey conducted in June, when Navarro scored 28%, Arias 25% and Varela 18%.
Excluding the share of respondents who said they will not vote (14.1%), then Navarro would get 33.4% of the votes; Arias, 28.2%, and Varela, 21.8%.
The survey was administered to 2,190 thousand people and has a margin of error of 2.81%. The full results were published in the La Prensa supplement Pulse of the Nation, on Wednesday, August 28
