Rivera gets save 38 and standing ovation

PANAMANIAN closer Mariano Rivera earned his 38th save to help the New York Yankees avoid a series sweep against Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday August 25 . The Yankees won 3-2.

Rivera, appearing for the last time in a regular season game at Tropicana Field, received a standing ovation from the audience before taking the final three.

Yankees batter Alex Rodriguez was booed every time he went to the plate.
The closer, who plans to retire after this season, retired the three batters to lower his ERA to 2.20.
