New private jet terminal for Tocumen

BAA Aviation Flight Support is going to invest $8 million in a new private jet terminal at Tocumen International Airport.

Asig Panama SA, a subsidiary of BAA Aviation, will be responsible for building and operating the new terminal, which will handle migration for passengers arriving in private jets, in an area of 7.000 hectares which will also include waiting rooms and tax free shopping.

According to Michael Scheeringa, CEO of BBA Aviation Flight Support the company is making a total investment of $18 million over five years in the airport, of which $10 million has already been invested in infrastructure for commercial airlines says Panama America

"Panama is the connecting door to Latin America because it is an economic hub in Central America, and there are great expectations in it by major global political and economic leaders, and the airport is the first impression they get when entering the country, so you have to give them first-world services," he added.

Juan Carlos Pino, general manager of Tocumen International Airport, said up to 4000 private jets pass through the terminal every year, which is why it "needs a decent private space for those traveling in these aircraft
