19 Cubans to get asylum in Panama

PANAMA IS giving asylum for “humanitarian” reasons to 19 Cuban citizens currently being held in The Bahamas.

The 1954 Caracas Convention, cited by the Foreign Ministry, includes the  territorial asylum for those suffering political persecution or whose personal safety is threatened..the legal assistance they need and the time to think about their future, said Monday the foreign minister, Fernando Nunez Fabrega.

"They will have all the legal assistance they need, even helping them  look for a hostel or hotel where they will be together and then, with the peace and tranquility offered by Panama, they will determine what they want to do with their future," said Foreign minister, Fernando  Nunez Fabrega..
