New Omudsman units will include sexual diversity
PANAMA’S reigning Ombudsman plans to introduce new specialized units covering sexual diversity, freedom of expression and mediation.
Ombudsman manager, Javier Mitil, installed when Patria Portugal was suspended, made the announcement during a meeting with the representative of the Office of the High Commissioner of the United Nations, Carmen Rosa Villa,
Mitil and Villa carried held the coordination meeting to discuss the defense of human rights in Panama
Mitil expressed interest in making a joint effort for the promotion and defense of human rights, especially of vulnerable groups such as prisoners, indigenous people, children, women and the disabled.
He also announced that by the end of August he will open the Regional Office of the Ombudsman in the district of San Felix, Chiriqui.
Villa highlighted the important role of the Ombudsman in the defense of human rights, which called for maintaining an active presence in the population.
