Breeders defend pitbulls against media attacks
BREEDERS and trainers of pitbulls rallied on the Amador Causeway on Sunday, July 28 to protest the demonization of the breed.
The gathering was planned after two recent incidents involving pitbulls . In the first, a pitbull fatally attacked his owner, 79, in Aguadulce. In a later event, recorded in Carrasquilla, a member of the SPI shot another pitbull to protect his life.
Defenders of the breed, like Edwin Gallardo believe "no pitbull is aggressive for no reason. It's not like everyone thinks that they are murderers. That depends a lot on the owner. None attack for the taste. "
One of the organizers of the rally, Mary Caballero, of the Panama Kennel Club, also lamented how some media portrayed events. "Many media have demonized the breed and that’s not fair, so we're here."
Gallardo, owner of three pitbulls says that they "are good to defend the house, to defend the family. But on the street they do not attack anyone. "And as proof, today, More than 80 animals of this breed have spent the morning on the Amador Causeway.
