Frustrated passengers block Metro Bus

A DAY AFTER President  Martinelli mused that Panama’s metro bus system has “not resulted in the immediate benefits that were expected” , frustrated passengers in Balboa stopped and blocked a Metro bus.

Tired of waiting for up to one and a half hours for a bus take them to their destinations, a group of around 25  people stopped and blocked a bus , identified with number 04-48-S, in Balboa opposite McDonald's on Saturday  afternoon, July 27.

Alba Aldeano, one of the people waiting for a bus to take her to Veranillo said the  action was "spontaneous". "We are tired of waiting for a bus (…) have been here one and a half hours. She told Prensa.com.

At least 25 in the same situation stopped the bus from leaving when the driver said he already had another route, so couldn’t carry them. "But we demanded answers," said Aldeano.

The  obstruction quickly affected vehicular traffic in the area.

Police arrived followed  by a Mi Bus supervisor who gave the driver permission to change routes and take the passengers and possibly leave others stranded on his original route. For them,“No immediate benefits”
