Dont play games with state money new Ombudsman

PEOPLE CANNOT play games with the money of the state and if they do they should go to jail said Panama’s new Ombudsman on Thursday July 25.

Mitil, was named to the job, after the separation of Patria Portugal on Wednesday while criminal investigations into embezzlement are underway.

He said that any person who has been involved in cases of cost overruns should put resign or be fired” and he first knew of the alleged irregularities in the institution through the publications of the newspaper La Prensa.
"I think the role of an advocate is to go to the street and not sit in a luxurious office” said Mitil.
(On the day of her suspension La Prensa revealed that Portugal had purchased an $87,000 Lincoln SUV at the time she had issued a $250,000 contract for updating the agency’s web site and another for $200,000 for training staff to handle clients. President Martinelli uses a $60,000 Toyota Prado.)
Mitil asked for public trust in the Ombudsman’s office and said that " people commit mistakes not institutions."
He added that the work of the Ombudsman is to ensure that human rights problems can be solved
