Murder trial evidence disappears, prosecutor on 4 months leave

THE LEAD prosecutor in a trial following the death of a university student has been sent on four months leave after seven cell phone chips to be used as evidence, disappeared.

 Luis Martinez has been replaced by the assistant prosecutor of the upper second circuit, Argentina Barrera, specializing in homicide investigations in the case of murdered student Aira Isabel Guadalupe Guerra.

Marcelino Aguilar, Assistant Prosecutor's Office, confirmed the change and said the new lead has had a 19 year professional career in the Public Ministry.
Aguilar explained that it is lifting the case on Guerra’s death and other records in their care,a normal situation when a staff member goes on vacation.
Regarding the loss of seven mobile phone chips, Aguilar said that research is being conducted by the First Anti corruption Prosecutor.
On Monday, July 1,  an autopsy report on Guerra was released . According to the document, the body showed evidence of wounds in the chest, twice in the abdomen, three wounds in her left hand fingers, skin lesions of the trunk, scalp and extremities, consistent with burns. A fissure in the skull, and an absence of thoracic. Pelvic and abdominal organs.
"It is a woman's body in an advanced state of decomposition, with animal predation after her death."
Attorney General, Ana Isabel Belfon, clarified that Martinez was sent on holidays for the duration of investigations after the loss of evidence which occurred in his office.
It is not a case against the prosecutor, said Belfon, who said that he will be away for four months, using accumulated vacation time
"This vacation is to aerate, to rest, because this research is quite complex," said Belfon.
