President building a media empire?
PRESIDENT RICARDO MARTINELLI dodged questions on Thursday, June 13 about the alleged expansion of his media interests.
He was asked whether he was a shareholder of the company KW Continente, which owns radio stations in Panama.
The president said that he is a shareholder of Next TV and TVN channel 2, but declined to comment about any holdings in the radio company.
The question has arisen since Martinelli told a Colombian journalist that he bought six stations in Panama from Grupo Prisa. But Radio Panama Manager Edwin Cabrera denied this, saying Martinelli had instead bought the rights to six frequencies. He also said Grupo Prisa only owns three stations in Panama.
Martinelli has revealed links to Panama America and is a shareholder in La Prensa
