ELECTION ROUTE: PRD gets boost from Evangelicals
PASTORS Raúl Patterson and Salomon Ruíz, son of the Rev. Manuel Ruíz, of the Faith Evangelical Tabernacle Church, have enrolled in the opposition PRD.
They have pledged their support to the PRD presidential candidate, Juan Carlos Navarro, a move that could send a lot off votes his way.
In a press release from the party, Patterson and Ruiz said: "The church performs an important role in the fight against hunger, crime and drugs, and we are seeking to expand that aid to the population through a seat in the National Assembly."
Manuel Ruí¬z emphasized that all Panamanians have the right to participate in the democratic process.
"This is an opportunity, a challenge for them to participate and assume their patriotic duty," he said.
