Bishop criticizes timing of electoral reforms

THE BISHOP of the Diocese of David has joined in the growing condemnation of the timing of electoral reforms.

José Luis Lacunza said on Tuesday, April 23 that he does not think the time is right to introduce reforms.
Lacunza made his statements after President Ricardo Martinelli signed the reforms recently approved by the National Assembly.
Lacunza said the best time to revise the Electoral Code and propose changes was at the beginning of this government, and not in the midst of campaigns for the 2014 election.
"The best scenario is when there is peace of mind to think about these changes," he said.
