Panama firefighters irked by false alarms

PANAMA’S bomberos (firefighters) fought at least 180 structural fires during the first quarter of 2013 and were also called out to many false alarms.

The structural fires included buildings, warehouses and malls and there there were also more than 4,000 grass fires reported.
Fire officials complained about the number of false alarms that have been reported, saying it is "unacceptable" that firefighters have to respond to those calls instead of real emergencies.
