Mi Bus has 72 hours to solve problems as diablos rojos return
The company operating Panama’s Metro bus system has been given 72 hours to respond to 10 questions put forward by the National Assembly’s transportation commission while owners of diablos rojos say they will be back on the streets.
Meanwhile, Tommy Lee, the leader of the diablos rojos carriers, said that on Wednesday, April 10, at 3:00 am, 250 buses will be rolling "to help resolve the problem with transportation." He said the buses that will hit the streets will be those that have not yet been compensated.
The commission’s deputy chairman, Marcos Gonzalez, said that representatives of Mi Bus on Monday, April 8, presented a report of a technical nature. However, deputies have many more questions about the transportation problem that exists in the capital.
Gonzalez said that there are issues that can’t wait to be solved, such as the frequency of stops and buses. The deputy said that users are already losing their jobs because of the lack of buses to get to work.
"We have asked Mi Bus increase service on the busiest routes like San Miguelito and the area east of Panama” Gonzalez, told local media.
Ivan Posada, one of the managers of My Bus, said the issue of frequency and the time people wait is one of the most critical. But he said that if there are deficiencies in the Metro Bus service, they are being addressed. “There is a big challenge,” he admitted.
Posada said the company has 2000 t buses, which are sufficient to carry the number of persons established in the contract. Despite this, they will bring in 36 additional buses in the fourth quarter.
The manager said that the issue of speed is what, in his opinion, is affecting the system. He argued that the construction of road projects in the city decreases the speed of the buses, causing delays in the system.
