Molirena seeks slice of the ruling pie

The Molirena party, which has tripled its number of adherents in the last year, has said that it will seek to nominate the vice presidential candidate for a ticket headed by the Cambio Democrático (CD).

"We will require the candidate for vice president be a Molirena member," said party President Sergio González Ruíz to La Prensa

He said that the party has yet to identify a possible candidate, but that he would seek the nomination.

"The supporters have asked me," he said.

The party is planning a registration drive in April. It had planned a primary in March but cancelled it due to the alliance with the CD.

The party has about 108,000 members.
