Martinelli stirs the pot with Twitter comments
President Ricardo Martinelli. has once again ignited a controversy over remarks he has made on Twitter.
This time the comments were about the opposition presidential primaries.
Martinelli usedTwitteer to say that the opposition parties held their primaries "to determine second and third place in the 2014 general elections."
Opposition leaders immediately responded, saying the president has more important priorities than commenting on primaries.
Panameñista Deputy José Luis Varela said that there are currently many problems, such as the poor service of the Metro Bus, the high cost of living and insecurity, that the president should be worried about.
He added, that it is clear that the president is concerned about his political future.
"Who wins the gold, silver and bronze medal in the election is a decision that will be made by the Panamanian people on May 4, 2014," he said.
PRD Vice President Leandro Avila said that the president is dreaming if he thinks that the CD will repeat in the election.
"His number has already been played, and it won't come up again," he said.
