Unseasonal weather causes damage across Isthmus

Strong gusting north easterly winds lifted roofs , felled trees and downed power lines and billboards over the weekend in all parts of the Isthmus.

 The wind comes from a cold front coming from the Caribbean area and Aljazeera warned that Panama could be affected by heavy rains. The province of Panama has been largely covered by clouds for several days.
The CEO of the National System of Civil Protection (NSCP) Arturo Alvarado, says that this phenomenon has occurred more than 30 times during this dry season. Some have been imperceptible by the public, while others have been more obvious like the one on weekend which brought some rain, strong winds and low temperatures.
He cautioned that people should work seriously on a family contingency plans, that at one time could save lives.
In the central square of Dolega, Chiriqui a legendary mango tree, revered by dolegueños and visitors came crashing down and damaged to the roof of the house of a Panamanian author.
