Government has three days to avoid Metro Bus strike
The government and the company running the Metro Bus service has three days to address a pay raise for drivers or face a walk out.
The decision was made Saturday, January 26, after talks between the My Bus company, the Ministry of Labor, and drivers, stalled over the last of 28 points under discussion — the demand for an $800 salary for drivers.
If there is no response to their demand they will call a strike from 12:00 am on Thursday, January 31, The government and the company, have until Wednesday at 9:00 pm to respond.
Drivers say the company promised the $800 but My Bus has denied making a commitment to that amount.
Other issues that were discussed related to driver complaints over times in and out of the yards, overtime and holidays.
The leader of the Metro Bus drivers, Inocente Guerra, said that talks with the company failed solve the salary question although 27 of the 28 points raised in the dialogue had been agreed.
