Former Canal boss studying possible presidential bid
Panama’s next presidential election got suddenly more interesting on Friday December 16 following a report that the former Canal administrator is mulling over the prospect of running as an independent.
La Prensa reported that Alberto Alemán Zubieta said Friday, that he hasn't made a decision on whether or not he will run for president as an independent candidate in 2014.
"This is a matter that I have been analyzing, and I will continue to do so," said Alemán Zubieta. He said he has not been approached by any partyand he appreciated the fact that people think that he can be a good independent candidate for president.
"I am grateful to the people who think that highly of me because it means I have done good things," he said.
