Child pornography candy coating for internet bill – deputy

Various sectors of Panama have warned that the proposal to regulate internet access would be, in some way, applying censorship.

The alert was given after news that the National Assembly is ready to discuss bill 377, amending the Criminal Code to punish cyber crimes in the country. The paper was presented in 2011 by Democratic Change (CD) deputy Abraham Martinez .

Deputy Jorge Alberto Rosas, of the Molirena party said the government is trying to "control the internet in the next election" of 2014. Rosas said the "candy" covering this bill is the subject of child pornography.
German Simon Bolivar, the Forum of Journalists, agreed with Rosas. "They will be using. child pornography to eventually restrict access to information," he said.
