Ochy fails to show to give his side of the story

David Ochy, the businessman whose workers blockaded entrances to La Prensa over the weekend, failed to appear for an interview to give his version of events.

 

On Friday August 3, at 4:24 pm,says La Prensa the banana landowner  committed an interview with La Prensa, to clarify each of the stories  the newspaper had carried about his plans to export bananas and the land-titling process he used to obtain the land and his lucrative state contracts  totalling $400 million to build roads.

After two unsuccessful attempts, Ochy returned the call at approximately 7:00 pm. He then said it was too late to conduct the interview and  hung up.

The entrepreneur's initial intention was that journalists should arrive at his farm in Divala, to witness  banana workers who defend his banana export project.

Earlier La Prensa reported that Ochy had threatened members of the staff.
