Businesses feeling the pain in Casco Viejo

A sign in the window of Casco Viejo’s only pharmacy nowm closed says it all: “Thank you Oderbrecht.”

Businesses  in the old city are suffering as the road works to “preserve the historical heritage”  continue, with  many streets closed  beyond the times originally announced.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) announced  Monday, July 23 a new list of street closings and diversions  and added: “In areas where contractors will be working, crosswalks will remain, ensuring access to residences, businesses and institutions that exist in the area.”  Tell that to the pharmacist.

But where resurfacing of roads has  been completed and new “old style” lamps installed , residents seem generally pleased with the results.
