Election Tribunal judge calls for action in case delayed 3 years

Eduardo Valdés Escoffery one of the three Electoral Tribunal judges who received an apology from President Ricardo Martinelli on Saturday, June23,  launched his own denunciation of the Supreme Court on Monday.

He asked the court to speed up contempt action filed against him and the other two judges of the entity in 2009 by seven members of the Central American Parliament, belonging to Martinelli's Democratic Change party

Valdés Escoffery recalled that the lawsuit against them is for alleged contempt in breach of a fault.

"That goes for almost three years and there has been absolutely no action by the Supreme Court" he said.

He said on  Telemetro Reports that these facts also lend themselves to speculation, because "they are mechanisms to create swords of Damocles,  to exert pressure at a given time."

"So I think is important, said the magistrate, that the Supreme Court to catch up with the solution of that pending case.

The complaint for contempt was filed by Julio Cesar Pinzon, Esteban Ruiz, Manuel Hernández, David Arce, Noriel Ceitu, Irving Centeno and Governor of Panama, Mayín Correa, and their respective alternates.

Correa told La Prensa  that she would rather die than to abandon the claim, as, the CD group did in the case of their law suit against the judges over a case for Bebedero, in Los Santos over a delay of nearly a year in confirming an election result.
