Cattle dying in Los Santos drought area

While Panama City continues to get its daily dose of heavy rain farmers in one region of Los Santos are suffering from severe drought,

Franklin Moreno the representative from the district of Tres Quebradas has called for an emergency to be declared in the coastal districts of Los Santos and Guararé, where the  agricultural sector is being hammered.

Moreno said there is great concern, because in addition to cattle that have already  died for lack of pasture and water, large numbers of cattle are malnourished  and if not fed as a matter of urgency will die.

The area has suffered from a drought since last  November, leaving most cattle farms without water and fodder.

The most critical situation is in the districts of Santa Ana and El Espinal, where the only rain this  year was  in early April.
