60 families lose all in afternoon blaze
Sixty families lost all their possessions following a fire in an area without fire hydrants in Rio Abajoon Thursday afternoon, June 14.
The fire was reported in Corotú a wooden structure in Calle 13 Rio Abajo. on Thursday afternoon June 14.
Javier Ortega, the area’s Representative there were no reported injuries among the residents. He added that the area has no fire hydrants, so firefighters had to make a connection from the street entrance to the fire site.
According to Ortega, he had already warned that this situation could happen in the building made entirely of wood. The Fire Department isconducting an investigation. And the mayor’s staff is studying where to locate the victims.. The mayor said firefighters prevented the surrounding properties from being affected by the flames.
