Panama bidding for place in World Cup beats Honduras.
Panama’s National Soccer Team was greeted by cheering supporters on Saturday at Tocumen Airport on Saturday after defeating Honduras in a a qualifying round for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Their 2-0 win against Honduras at the Estadio Olimpico Metropolitano in San Pedro Sula will be followed by their next game in Group C against Cuba, in Panama.
Cuba lost to Canada 0-1 which puts Panama at the top of the Group C table.
The Panama players moved to a local hotel before resuming training at the Rommel Fernandez Stadium.
Striker Blas Perez said: "We must prepare for Cuba on Tuesday. Although they come from losing Cuba, is a team that deserves respect,". Canada will play Honduras on Tuesday, and Panama on September 7 in Toronto. The second leg will be in Panama September 11. It's a long road to Brazil, but Panama has taken the first steps.
