Another government deputy loses US visa

A government stalwart, who was captured on video  while giving money to Panamenista deputy Aurelio Alonso, to persaude him to jump to the ruling party,  no  longer has a visa to enter the United States.

Gabriel De Janon was named in a  letter from the U.S. Embassy, addressed to the airlines, in which the consul general Mark Fry, confirmed the visa cancelation.

In the document,  Janon, whose visa was issued in December 2003was identified as not being able toenter the United States. It also says that the embassy tried to tell De Janon about the recall, based on regulation 22 CFR 41,122, but was unable to because, apparently, his phones were not working.

In the letter, Fry warns airlines: if De Janon "comes to travel after you have received this notice, and if your company allows the owner to board despite this notice, your company can be punished with a fine for having carried  to the United States to a person not in possession of a valid visa."

Janon was targeted last year as an alleged accomplice of the irregularities in the issuance of visas for foreigners, when Maria Cristina Gonzalez led the National Immigration Service at the beginning of this administration.

In April this year, the man who is identified as responsible for promoting the jumps to Molirena was discovered by members of Panamemista Party while allegedly offered $ 130,000 to Aurelio Alonso to Aurelio the Panamenista representating, the village of Pajonal in Penonomé, , in exchange for moving into the ranks of the ruling administration says La Prensa

De Janon did not answer or return calls  from the newspaper made from early morning until after 6:00 pm but athird person asked to be sent written questions. This was done, but no reply was received.

De Janon has  a degree in marketing and sales and was director of the defunct Social Investment Fund (FIS), now National Assistance Program (NAP) in  the government of Mireya Moscoso Patria.

He belonged to thePanamenista Party but recently jumped into the ranks of the Nationalist Republican Liberal Movement (Molirena). He was adviser to the National Immigration Service during the term of Maria Cristina Gonzalez.

Dionisio De Gracia, an attorney representing Aurelio Alonso, yesterday formally asked the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Fourth call for questioning of De Janon, denounced for  influence peddling.

Gracia said he asked for investigation of  De Janon and an interim injunction to leave the country.

He also requested evidence be taken from Garay Ricardo Adolfo Barrios, the helicopter pilot who allegedly moved to De Janon to Penonomé, where he made the first offers to Alonso.

Gracia explained that the prosecution has not made any steps, because the summary just arrived at the office of theprosecutor, Lorena Lozano.
