Another evacuation at Global Bank Tower.
Tenants and workers at Panama’s Global Bank Tower were allowed back into the building on Thursday, May 31 after 19 people were treated by paramedics.
The evacuation, followed the release of fumes from a resin being used for maintenance work on the building's water tanks.
The Global Bank Tower, on Calle 50. was evacuated in April after a short circuit in the basement and again last year when a basement fire sent smoke pouring from the building.
Juan De Arco of the Fire Safety Office said the “whole place was ventilated to remove the fumes and all equipment and instruments used for the work was removed.” According to Arco the victims suffered from headaches, breathing difficulties and dizziness.
Representative’s of the building’s administration and the maintenance company have been told to report to the Research Division of the Fire Investigation Department in Balboa and to bring specified documents as part of the investigations.
